Message from the Principal
The Myanmar Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (MEGST) was established in 1996 in fulfillment of the vision given to the leaders of “Myanmar Evangelical Christian Fellowship” (MECF), called today “Myanmar Evangelical Christian Alliance” (MECA). MEGST was established as a result of the MECA leaders dreamed and planed together as a team.
MEGST’s vision is “to train and equip Christians to be Christ-like leaders who build up the church and the nation of Myanmar and beyond.” MEGST is just 21 years old, but has produced about 400 graduates who serve the Lord in every nook and corner of the country as pastors, evangelists, Bible College lecturers, missionaries, and directors of children ministries.
From the very beginning, MEGST is unique in a sense that it emphasizes quality rather than quantity. Excellence is our goal. After careful evaluation, Asia Theological Association (ATA) has fully recognized and given full accreditation to both Master of Divinity and Master of Theology. Today, MEGST stands as the best institution in the country; and students and faculty come from different denominations and ethnic groups in the country – serving as a team. MEGST is surrounded by very committed and generous brothers and sisters around the globe who support financially.
MEGST is an Evangelical Institution meaning that it strongly believes and emphasizes the characteristics of Evangelicalism: The inerrancy and inspiration of the Bible, The Virgin Birth of Christ, the substitutionary atonement of Christ, the need of personal trust for salvation, and the urgent need of evangelism in obedience to the great commission. MEGST is the right place for those who have the assurance of God’s calling for ministry, those who love God and want to be rooted in the word of God, and for those who want to serve effectively with a Christ-like lifestyle.
