Message from the Principal

The Myanmar Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (MEGST) was established in 1996 in fulfillment of the vision given to the leaders of “The Myanmar Evangelical Christian Fellowship” (MECF), called today the “Myanmar Evangelical Christian Alliance” (MECA). MEGST was established as a result of the MECA leader’s dreams and planning together as a team. The four founding pioneers were Rev. Dr. Ral Buai (Board Chairman), Rev. Dr. Aung Mang (Principal), Rev. Dr. Kawlthangvuta (Theological Commissioner), and Bro, Tony Plews (Former Executive Director, Leadev-Langham, New Zealand).

MEGST’s vision is “to train and equip Christians to be Christ-like leaders who build up the church and the nation of Myanmar and beyond.” Having been established on 17th June 1996, MEGST has produced more than 500 graduates who serve the Lord in all parts of the country in many ways including as pastors, evangelists, Bible College lecturers, missionaries, and directors of children’s ministries.

From the very beginning, MEGST has always emphasized quality rather than quantity. Excellence is our goal. After careful evaluation, the Asia Theological Association (ATA) has fully recognized and given full accreditation to Master of Arts (in Organizational Leadership), Master of Divinity, and Master of Theology. Today, MEGST stands among the best theological institutions in the country. Students and faculty come from various denominations and ethnic groups and serve as a team. MEGST is surrounded by very committed and generous brothers and sisters around the globe who support it financially.

MEGST is an Evangelical Institution meaning that it strongly believes and emphasizes the characteristics of Evangelicalism: The inerrancy and inspiration of the Bible, The virgin birth of Christ, the substitutionary atonement of Christ, the need for personal trust for salvation, and the urgent need of evangelism in obedience to the great commission. MEGST is the right place for those who have the assurance of God’s calling for ministry, those who love God and want to be rooted in God’s word, and those who want to serve effectively with a Christ-like lifestyle.
